Proverb

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day, Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

Teddy McDuffie is the founder and owner of WNY Legacy of Champions; he has worked with at-risk and homeless youth in underserved communities for over 20 years, 15 of which has been in a leadership role as a Supervisor and Director. He has been a voice, mentor, coach, facilitator, father figure, teacher, and advocate for today’s youth. During which time, Teddy has successfully re-engineered a supportive housing program for foster care and homeless youth.

As a football coach for over 20 years, Teddy is passionate about teaching youth the game of football and making them better on the defensive side of the ball. However, more importantly, he has used football as a tool to teach and help youth build life-skills and develop good habits that has carried them into adulthood.  As the Defensive Coordinator for Erie Community College (ECC), his avenue of approach of integrating life-skills with sports has developed numerous division 1, 2 and 3 football players. Some of the schools these student-athletes attended after ECC on scholarship were: Maryland University, Indiana University, New Mexico University, Brigham Young University, Bethune Cookman and Albany University. Teddy also coached youth and high school football in the city of Buffalo where his philosophy of coaching has also been successful.

Teddy began his athletic career himself in youth sports at an early age, during his high school and collegiate career he has amassed a strong resume in the sport of football. Teddy earned such honors as the first player from a Buffalo Public School to be named Player of the Year (football 1992) in WNY History and is also the All-Time Leading Rusher in Harvard Cup History (Harvard Cup, Buffalo NY 1989-1993). Teddy in his collegiate career became an All-American for football at SUNY Buffalo (1997).

Teddy has earned a BS from SUNY Buffalo in Sociology, as well as a Masters in Human Services Administration from SUNY College at Buffalo.
